OMG!!! No excuse to ignore your Whatsapp messages anymore!
WhatsApp is now sporting a cool new feature that might make a big
difference in how users of the messaging app stay in touch with their friends.
The Facebook owned app update reveals when a post is read - and the precise time it
was opened. Single grey tick means the message has been sent, a double
grey tick means it has been delivered, and two blue ticks mean it has been read. Pressing and
holding a message shows the Message details. Clicking this reveals the precise time
that particular
message was read.
From today, it will be harder to avoid replying WhatsApp messages, or at
least claim that you haven’t seen them because as far as you have internet connection and
your phone is on, you won’t have any excuse to say you haven’t read the message when you just read
and ignored it. This has generated varying opinions on social media as some
users are not comfortable with the update why some have no qualms with it. However, you can avoid the inconvenience of the update if you
see it as such, by not launching the app as the messages will show in your
notification bar when it comes but won’t show READ, or still, turn off your network before viewing
the messages though I see this as even more inconveniencing
For group chats, the two blue ticks appears when all members in the
group have received the message.
The app update is available across all mobile platforms
and more
information about the features can be found on WhatsApp's FAQ page. They say its not
an update and no such features where also listed in playstore as well. A voIP
feature for making free calls from the app over wi-fi or mobile data connection
is also rumoured to be in the works.
